Thinking about what might be considered ‘planet Earth’s most pollution-sensitive species’ sparked the thoughts that drove me to write this article and compile the following list.

Upon Earth, amidst numerous conflicts and wars, another battle is often overlooked: the fight against extinction caused by pollution.

Within highly polluted areas, pollution-sensitive species, often among prey species, are more vulnerable to health risks.

The prioritization of these pollution-sensitive species should be considered.

In numerous ways, prioritizing the protection of weaker species is strategic, as these species often serve as ‘keystone species’ and ‘indicator species’ to their environments — often serving as prey for predators, and helping to balance wildlife food webs and populations.

Therefore, pollution-sensitive species’ potential for large-scale effects cannot be underestimated.

If too many populations of pollution-sensitive species, spanning various families, were to vanish, it would trigger significant ‘domino effects’ throughout…
